This group of Antique Scottish Books dates to 1888 and includes the first four consecutive volumes of Wilson’s Tales of the Borders, and of Scotland, all wearing their wonderfully aged olive cloth covers with Scottish heraldic and thistle decoration.
Published in London by Walter Scott and revised by Alexander Leighton, the four Victorian clothbound books contain Scottish historical, traditional and imaginative tales by John Mackay Wilson, Leighton, Hugh Miller and others. These are Volumes I–IV from the larger 24-volume collection and are being sold together as one matching group. Expect age-related wear, rubbing and discoloration consistent with books that have been knocking around since Queen Victoria was still in charge.
